My first post in my first blog ever!

The quote "I cannot live without books" is from Thomas Jefferson an avid reader and collector of books. I recently finished reading the biography of Thomas Jefferson by Jon Meacham, Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power.  I am inspired by my daughter Melissa who helped set up this blog for me.  I have something close to 800-900 hundred books, many of which I have bookmarks sticking out at the page where I last was reading. 
I enjoyed the book by Jon Meacham.  I learned many things about Thomas Jefferson and came to understand that like all of America's founding fathers, Jefferson had his personal and human flaws.  That he was a gifted and eloquent writer is undoubted as evidenced by his drafting of the Declaration of Independence.
